Collaborative Exploratory Search

People often work together when searching information, for instance when planning a vacation trip. We explored how to design effective collaboration for explorative search, that is when you need find as much information about a topic as possible.  We designed and evaluated a system for doing video search where two searchers took different roles in order to cover as much of the search space as possible (Pickens et al., 2008, SIGIR best paper award; Golovchinsky, Qvarfordt & Pickens, 2009).
